I mainly prefer progressive and electro house but I like some trance.
One of my favorite American house DJ’s is Junior Vasquez. He basically learned how to make music through another friend who was a well-known DJ. But, you really have to practice and know what sound people are looking for to have an enduring presence. In other words, a Junior Vasquez track or remix might have been good for the late nineties crowd. But, people seem to be gravitating toward the more progressive styles of house. This has a lot to do with why David Guetta has become huge in the United States.
Now, there are some who go to school and learn how to produce music. I don’t know of any of those from the top of my head. It basically seems like the best dance music breaks at the spur of the moment from someone who is just toying around with newer and more modern sounds.
